Georgia Association of Educators Voices Support for Belle Carter
April 11, 2008 – 11:17 am by GlenFinally! The GAE is publicly backing former Teacher of the Year, Belle Carter. Thanks to the NAACP, public opinion, at least some of it, has been critical of Carter. And the school. For a slew of baloney reasons. Welcome to the USA; where students try to harm the teacher and the NAACP rushes to blame the victim!
Hubbard’s favorite foods include: steak, Varsity Chili Dogs and Chocolate Almond Ice Cream. He detests green veggies.
Hubbard wishes he could play major league baseball
“All she wants to do is teach —and I’ve met privately with here today — and to reach out to these children, and she is being marred by this one incident. What a shame for a woman who goes above and beyond to help underachieving students. Her reputation has been hurt. One of the few things you live and die with is your good name and her’s has been victimized.”
“Teachers aren’t in it to get rich. The richness comes from getting to see the children succeed.”
On how the school dealt with the incident:
“It was handled with tact and with sensitivity both for the victim and for the students involved.
Sadly, Carter is not the only teacher who’s been in danger from her students. Jolita Berry, an art teacher at Reginald F. Lewis High School in Baltimore was savagely beaten up by a student in her class. More coverage in this YouTube clip.

It is nice to see Hubbard do the right thing. It is time to stop making excuses and just deal with the problem.
