The National Center for Education Statistics has released a compensation/demographic report on public school teachers. Seven States participated in this effort:

Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Missouri, and Oklahoma.

Highlights from the report:

1) Average Salary for full time teachers:

Arizona: $42, 772
Arkansas: $40, 981
Colorado: $44, 777
Florida: $41, 740
Iowa: $41, 145
Missouri: $40, 602
Oklahoma: $34, 631

2) Teachers are overwhelmingly female; percentage of female teachers by State:

Arizona: 75.8%
Arkansas: 81.5%
Colorado: 72.9%
Florida: 78.7%
Iowa: 81.7%
Missouri: 79.4%
Oklahoma: 79.6%

3) Teachers are also overwhelmingly white:

Arizona: 83.1%
Arkansas: 89.3%
Colorado: 90.1%
Florida: 74.2%
Iowa: 98.1%
Missouri: 92%
Oklahoma: 91.2%
