NAACP in Waycross Goes Off Deep End
April 9, 2008 – 11:41 am by GlenDo you know what the “C” in NAACP stands for? Chutzpah!
It’s a sad state of affairs. This story keeps getting more ridiculous by the day. Children brought a steak knife, crystal paperweight, handcuffs and other items to school. Their intention was to exact get revenge on their teacher, Ms. Belle Carter. Guess what? Belle Carter was the TEACHER of the YEAR at Center Elementary School last year!
And now the Waycross NAACP is blaming the teacher! At a press conference yesterday, the NAACP insisted that the children, who’ve been suspended, should be allowed back into school. To surmise, they’ve requested that the suspension be suspended. The NAACP is also standing by the whopper of a lie involving pie, that the students only intended on throwing pies at their teacher.
That’s it; the “P” in NAACP stands for “pies”.

NAACP press conference aka pie-throwing contest
You can watch the GMA clip with the same calorie filled-fib here. Can someone please explain me how come the school never found any pies? And what does a steak knife have to do with pies? Did they intend on slicing the pie first and then throwing them at Carter? What about the paperweight?
“There’s a teacher that, perhaps, needs to be investigated more than these students,” said Edward Dubose, state NAACP president.
The NAACP has criticized the following parties so far:
1) the teacher
2) Ware County School System
3) the media
But why stop there? We should also blame President Bush, VP Cheney & Chairman Bernake. Why? Why not! Anything but the dreadful notion of assuming responsibility! Because doing that would be the responsible thing to do.
You know who’d set these folks straight? Barack Obama. (Not his pastor!) Obama understands that playing the race card and the blame game is so 20th century. We need to stop skirting issues and be accountable for our actions; color of skin notwithstanding. This is not about black kids, white teachers and pies. This is about kids misbehaving. And white kids are behaving JUST as badly.
I am not the only one who feels that way. People from the Black community share my sentiments. I encourage you to read this blog post. And if you are wise, bookmark this site! One of my fav quotes:
“I DECLARE THE BLACK PASS OFFICIALLY REVOKED. It’s time to call people on their crap”.

What’s wrong with looking at the teacher?
I suppose she is as pure as the falling snow?
Something happened to start the problem. It didn’t just happen. People have to look at the people that have charge of our children. Why is it that parents can’t do background checks on teachers? Why can’t parents see the teachers personnal file to see if they have any complaints from past parents?
The education system is run in a way that parents have no rights to expel a poor teacher. Yet that same teacher can distroy young students lives.

Schools are required by law to do a background check on teachers. NCLB requires that teachers have certification to be considered highly qualified.
Personnel files are by definition personal, however if you would like to do your own background check on anyone there are several sites online to do so. You may also request a freedom of information act for any information you feel you need to know.
Why should a parent have the right to fire a teacher? Parents have rights they can request a new teacher, pull their child from the school, file a complaint, and many other rights. Deciding who gets hired or fired is the job of the school board.
