NAACP & Preacher Fault Waycross School with Racism

April 8, 2008 – 9:03 am by S T

Good Tuesday. Sipping my morning coffee. Yesterday I mentioned that the local NAACP was getting involved with the Waycross School incident. But wait; there’s more!

Today, the Waycross Journal-Herald reports that a local pastor is saying that the children who plotted the attack have been treated unfairly by the school and local authorities!

Rev. Fer-Rel Malone has called for a meeting tonight at the Macedonia Baptist Church. The reverend is quite the activist. 1) He is a founder of the AmericUSumter Observer, which per their mission statement: chronicles the social, political, economic and cultural realities of the Black community, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.2) In 1993, Rev. Fer-Rel Malone was the spokesperson for a boycott of local stores in Americus GA . The boycott started during the Christmas shopping season after the city refused to name a highway after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.Some highlights from the article:

The NAACP says it has investigated and discovered that the parents of the children involved in the plot were coerced into signing documents three days after the planned attack was thwarted before the start of the school day on March 28. The documentation they signed did not detail the punishment, which included suspension of their children, said a local NAACP leader.

“We have asked for an emergency school board meeting to rectify the immense harm done to the individual students, the image and reputation for fairness of the county school system and our citizens,” Rev. Fer-Rel Malone said. “The punishment handed out to the nine of 11 students in the classroom has been unequally and inequitably applied.”

Malone contends black students and white students were disciplined differently for a “similar or same act.” He also said that the teacher, Belle Carter, has been verbally abusive to her students.

OK. Time out. I am calling BS. Kids plot to kill their teacher. And now the NAACP is vilifying the school and the authorities! Of course it’s not the students fault. Why assume responsibility when you can blame everyone else involved?

This is reprehensible.

The worst things you can do to these kids is justifying their cruel intentions and shocking behavior.

Besides, black students are the majority at Center Elementary School; representing 54% of the student population versus 41% white students.

Btw, guess why the NAACP and AmericUSumter Observer Founder Rev. Fer-Rel Malone are working so closely together? I’ll you why? They share the same office space!
