Fifth Grade Girls Charged with Tea Tampering

April 2, 2008 – 4:58 pm by S T

Hate to be a Debbie Downer. Or a Depressing Dave. Or a Sad Sally. Or a Miserable Maxine. Or a Shocking Shmuly. But every time I turn around, there’s another story about school children acting naughty. Dangerously naughty.

While people are still trying to recover from the third grade assassins episode, another school in South Georgia just revealed that students attempted to “poison” their teacher.

The alleged crime occurred at the Carver Elementary School in Dawson Georgia. Three fifth graders put two and half Tylenol pills in their teacher’s tea. No word if the Tylenol was regular strength or extra strength.

(this cup of tea was not involved)

In brief:
The toxic-tampering urchins, ages 10/11/12, said they wanted to do this to Miss Fox, their teacher, because she had rolled her eyes at them. And they she was prejudiced against them. The students are black. Miss Fox is white. (FYI, the school is 94% black.)

All four girls are charged with aggravated assault and were scheduled to appear in juvenile court last week, but the case was delayed.

Only one of the students has been moved from Dana Fox’s class; the other three remain in her classroom!

Fortunately, Miss Fox did not drink the Tylenol-flavored-tea. Another student, a good Samaritan, who saw what was happening, spoke up before Fox drank the bedeviled drink.

A few questions I have on this incendiary incident:

  1. What is the world coming to?
  2. How come three of the students are still allowed to be in the class? They’ve been charged with aggravated assault by the cops, but Miss Fox is giving them homework as usual…
  3. Why are students ages 10, 11 & 12 all in fifth grade?

  3. Answers.

    1. The world is just as tragic today as it was back then. I wouldn’t want to live have lived through the Spanish Inquisition.
    2. The students are probably still allowed to be in the class because there probably isn’t any place else to put them. Seeing that it’s a predominantly black school, it’s probably overcrowded to begin with. Class must go on with or without them.
    3. Apparently, if they’re biggest concern is that the teacher rolled her eyes at them, they really don’t have much work to occupy they’re time. Apparently, there was enough time, to slip drugs into the woman’s tea.

  4. 1.) To imply that the world has JUST NOW taking a wrong turn would be naive & just as troubling as the aforementioned story. The world is following the same path it as always been on to destruction, first our bodies then our Planet or vise versa!
2.) I could state a few statistical facts about the U.S. Educational System, but these would be a waste in light of the FACT that the U.S. has 4 times more Penal Institutions than Educational…This probably says more than I ever could!
3.) In mention the FYI, “(the school is 94% black)” perhaps to initiate some underlined matter, issue or concern involving racism would not thoroughly explain why this happens in predominantly white schools as well. The true problem has always & may continue to be the Educational System itself & the lack of advancements made to further refine its classes.

  5. two and a half pills of tylenol?! thats it!? hahaha… If the school was doing its job perhaps the girls would have known the correct dosage to kill their teacher!
