More Bottle Bombs in Maryland High Schools

May 14, 2008 – 1:45 pm by S T

For the second time this month, homemade bottle bombs have exploded at two different Maryland High Schools. First, on May 5th, a 15-year-old freshman student nutcase brought a bottle bomb to school in his backpack. The bomb exploded during first period. Haz-mat crews and the fire department came to the school.

This occurred at Crossland High School which is in Temple Hills, Maryland. The student learned how to make the BB by watching instructional YouTube clips! And no; I will not post these clips here!

The student could be charged for the manufacture/possession of a destructive device AND reckless endangerment. Fortunately, damage was minimal and there were no reported injuries.

Here’s the video coverage:

Then, today more bottle bombs were detonated at ANOTHER Maryland HS. Authorities evacuated the school after finding out there were two additional bombs in the school. The devices were found and did not explode.

This occurred at Friendly High School, which is in Fort Washington, Maryland.
Both of these “bottle-bomb” schools are located in Price George County.

Two students have been arrested. The senior will not walk at graduation and is persona non grata at the prom. The sophomore will hopefully be expelled.

Here’s the video coverage:

What type of school has bombs exploding and still has the name “Friendly” High School? How about un-Friendly Place to go to School? That’s a bit more like it!
