Blacks & Hispanics in School Brawl

This past Friday, May 9th, a brawl took place at Locke High School in South LA. According to CBS2:

• the fight was between Black and Hispanic students
• the fight allegedly involved 600 students
• 4 people were arrested (not necessarily students)
• nobody needed to be taken to the hospital

A few points I’d like to add:

1. When I read that 600 students were involved, it sounded like a VERY high number. So, I checked out Locke Senior High on Schoolfinder to see if this made sense. It did. The high school has more than three-thousand students!
2. In terms of the racial breakdown, I also checked with Schoolfinder. The student population is about 65% Hispanic and 35% Black.
3. There was another national story last week involving Blacks versus Hispanics in public school.
4. Locke Senior High has done poorly on its test scores, performing WAY below the state average.

This school looks like it could use some help. And I know just the person to take charge. His name is Shimon Waronker!
