Who is Margaret Spellings?
March 21, 2008 – 10:55 am by S TGood Friday. Literally. Ever heard of a women by the name of Margaret Spellings? Don’t worry. Neither did I. Until last night. I was in bed. Reading my US News Magazine. A much better read than this week’s Star Magazine’s cover story of “Stars without Makeup“. Who needs makeup? I never wear makeup!
Margaret Spellings is the current Secretary of Education of our country! I can assure you that most parents would not be able to pick her out of a lineup. Still, if you lined up five Paris Hilton impersonators and mixed in the authentic Ms. Hilton, most of us would be able to spot the real Paris. That’s hot. Not.
In 1975, Margaret Spellings graduated from Sharpstown High School in Houston, Texas. She is the first mother of school-aged children to serve as Education Secretary. (You’d think this would have been a mandatory requirement!)
Here is link to her wiki bio. And a link to her government bio.
For fans of the Daily Show with John Stewart, here’s a video clip of her appearance.
Secretary Spellings is heavily involved with No Child Left Behind.
Here’s a YouTube clip of Margaret discussing education.
More to come!

She also appeared on March 8th as a guest on the NPR radio show, Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! To hear her appearance, go to http://www.npr.org/templates/rundowns/rundown.php?prgId=35&prgDate=03-08-2008&view=storyview. She mentions the fact that she’s the first mother of school-aged children. It was a very enjoyable segment!
